New York, NY, December 17, 2007 – Morgan & Finnegan, L.L.P., one of the nation’s premier intellectual property law firms, has announced that associate James Hwa of the Washington, D.C. office, has been elected partner at the firm.
“James has contributed substantially to the success of Morgan & Finnegan and we are pleased to recognize his outstanding work by making him partner,” said John F. Mr. Hwa, who joined Morgan & Finnegan as an associate in 1998, is involved in patent litigation before the federal district courts and the International Trade Commission, as well as in appeals before the U.S. Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences. He has rendered invalidity, non-infringement and enforceability opinions, as well as clearance and patentability opinions, prepared and prosecuted patent applications, conducted due diligence investigations and advised companies on their intellectual property rights. His practice is focused on computer hardware and software, telecommunications, motors, controllers, optics and consumer products.
Mr. Hwa received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School and his B.S.in electrical engineering from Columbia University.
